Inspired by the biblical Tower of Babel, "Helical Hapenstance" simultaneously juxtaposes and integrates angularity and fluidity, randomness and organization, interior and exterior, and simplicity and complexity along a scaling helix in an engineered effort to distract and subdue the rational mind and induce a transpersonal, transcendent experience.
This sculpture was created using a combination of procedural rule-based techniques and direct volumetric sculpting.
