Self-Awareness Mechanisms
These speculative devices explore self-awareness as an emergent property of structured systems. They suggest that self-awareness may arise from the recursive interaction between awareness and information, where awareness is not only a product of cognition, but a fundamental component of existence. This idea echoes both ancient non-dualistic traditions and contemporary theories of consciousness. While formally technological, the works also serve as a metaphor for the human mind as a mechanism of self-awareness. They invite reflection on the possibility that self-awareness is not exclusive to humans, or even biological systems, but an intrinsic potential of complex informational structures. Underlying the work is the idea that understanding self-awareness as a mechanism need not diminish its meaning, value, or wonder.
